About SDVE

Service Disabled Veteran Enterprises, Inc. (SDVE) was formed on February 24, 2004 following the enactment of the President's Executive Order of October 21, 2004 (supporting SDVOBs), Public Law 108-183 and Public Law 106-50. President George W. Bush signed Public Law 108-183 on December 16, 2003. President Clinton signed Public Law 106-50 on August 17, 1999.

This legislation entitles Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOBs) to receive sole source and restricted competition contracts for goods and services used by the U.S. Government. Congress enacted these statutes after it was determined, in data collected over a period of three years—from sixty federal departments and agencies, that less than half of these agencies and departments reported the expenditure of any procurement dollars with SDVO companies.

Public Law 106-50 establishes a three percent federal government-wide procurement goal for contracts and subcontracts for SDVO small firms.

SDVE provides a comprehensive service disabled veteran (SDV) supplier solution for government agencies and corporations and serves as a model SDVO small business, in order to encourage the widest array of SDVO firms to take full advantage of the spirit of this legislation. Since our inception, we have formed alliances with several major organizations and companies, including The Retired Military Officers Association, ARAMARK, EXELON, The Goeken Group, Tec Masters, and many other companies providing products and services to the Federal Government.

Eligible companies must be registered in the database of the Department of Veteran Affairs as Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOSBs) and must have have stipulated that:
  • They are at least 51% owned and controlled by SDVs (as defined in the Federal Acquisition Regulations [FAR]), and
  • The business is currently "small" by federal size standards.
